SMEs :More flexibility needed on Europe
Mike Cherry, National Policy Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), writes to the Financial Times to clarify that the FSB’s members want to play a full part in the debate about a possible EU exit. He remarks that the EU is good for business but its needs more flexibility for the future. He explains that the EU needs reform to ensure SMEs are able to compete with emerging powers in today’s global economy. The paper also carries a letter from Simon Walker, the Director-General of the Institute of Directors. Mr Walker writes that SMEs have much to gain from positive EU initiatives and that British negotiators should be leading the charge for reform.
